I Can't Take It, I'm Not Going To Take This!!!

“ Nothing, I repeat, nothing about me was right; my general appearance, my character, my manners are discussed from A-Z. I’m expected (by order) to simply swallow all the harsh words and shout in silence and I am not used to this. In fact, I can’t! I’m not going to take all these insults lying down, I’ll show them that Anne Frank wasn’t born yesterday.” pg. 32 Anne Frank

I really got impressed with this quote, she really stepped out her comfort zone and really absorbed what was going on and wasn’t trying to keep going out like that. I think this theme is determination because she is dealing with so much with the Jewish law and how they are getting mistreated by the Nazis and just wanted to not deal with it anymore. I think that Anne just wanted to get some self confidence, and that she really doesn't that things are going to get worse, and this is just the beginning. Anne and Jews really felt that this is about to end and that they aren’t going to deal with this bullying and dehumanization that is going on,
Just with the uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto, a lot of Jews had enough and thought that they should get an enough. Just with Obama with all of this violence that is going on in Illinois. I feel like it soo much a person can take before they break. Anne and her family goes through a lot, plus the other millions of other Jews. What Hitler and Nazis did to the Jews, I believe they felt as if they didn’t deserve what was done to them. Hitler and the Nazis was terrible to the Jews, and on several occasions when the Jewish people weren’t about to take a lot of what was going on and was trying to fight back, all the punishment that was giving to them, was starvation, and the gas chambers, and a great amount of Jews died each day. The big struggle the Jews went through and the fact that Anne had that great amount of confidence really impressed me.

  1. I agree completely Jasmine. Anne Frank really does step out of her comfort zone. But, why do you think she does this besides the determination and self confidence?. Also, very nice connection with Obama, but try to explain more on that connection. Give some detail on why that is such a good connection. Otherwise, very nice post. I would suggest, using even more detail from the story to explain you're personal connection to the story, also to explain why she inspired you so much. Furthermore, also keep going and explain why the Jews had such a struggle during this time period with Hitler and the Nazis.

  3. I agree when you say people can take so much before they break. But it depends in what kind of person you are. Are you the person who is willing to fight and stand up for what you believe is right? Or are you the person who if they try once and don't succeed then then just give up and break down? Anne Frank does have determination and self confidence. What is pushing her is what she believes is right. This is showing people that if you have a little determination and confidence in you, you can make a difference or change something even if it's little. I also really like how you connected the situation to the violence in Illinois. I also agree 100% with how you said the Jews didn't deserve what was done to them. Good Job!

  5. I agree with you when you say she had to step out of her comfort zone. However i don't think she did it to get some self confidence i believe she was able to step out of her comfort zone because she had that confidence. The reason she stood up for her self was because she wanted to get some respect from the adults. She wanted to show them that she wasn't a little kid anymore.

  6. I completely agree with you. Anne never spoke about her emotions and unfortunely it was eating her alive. She felt like if she spoke her mind she was going to seem to selfish. Each person reacts different to each situation, but i think Anne handled it perfectly fine. She felt like she was hitting her breaking point and to me that is perfectly fine becase everyone has their own breaking point and self limits. Society at that time was very hard to deal with since no one spoke about their emotions and the people who did would get judged. I think that was Anne's biggest fear. This shows she does have self confidence and hope. She's staying positive and thats the most important thing. Just because she was a Jew doesn't mean she doesn't have feelings and doesn't mean she can't express them. Anne was a human being and sometimes a human being could only take so much.
