"The war goes on just the same, whether or not we choose to quarrel, or long for freedom and fresh air, and so we should try to make the best of our stay here. Now I'm preaching, but I also believe that if I stay here for very long I shall grow into a dried-up old beanstalk. And I did so want to grow into a real young woman!"

The feeling i get from this quote shows nothing but hope and dehumanization.Anne has hope and is looking at the future of her getting older .I feel like they are being dehumanized as well because you should not have to make the best out of your life it should be the best already, but with the Holocaust and her in hiding it puts a hold on her having the best life and makes Anne have to attempt to make the best out of it.I really like this quote because its so true once you sit and think about it. If i was in Annes situation i would feel the same luck she feels i mean I wouldn't love it but i sure would make it better than what it really is.
The theme that really brings out this quote would be dehumanization because Anne and her family feel like they are put in this situation where they can't really live life and with Anne being so young it really hurts her. A connection to this would be like freedom of youth both Anne and I both want to grown up so fast but still have lots of years ahead of us.Sometimes i seem to get way ahead and forget im a teen or as my mom would say ¨getting out of body¨ and do things that i am not suppose to be doing or even attempting to do.i feel hopeless like anne feels sometimes when i have a death in my family or something goes wrong .I also feel hopeless when i am at cheer and i don't catch on to something fast and it takes me awhile to learn it.But her not saying she will and saying she wants to grow up into a young woman shows hopelessness
I'm sorry that I haven't commented't on your post until now. It seems that Anne's mind and your mind are going faster then their body. I've seen 3 and 4 year old kids try what the older gets do and think they should be able to do it but can't. Don't feel hopeless. Sometimes it just takes longer or more practice to do something. Just enjoy what you are doing and explore new ideas to see if you can do them better. Don't stop dreaming of the future.
ReplyDeleteYou picked out a great quote from this book; it gives me chills. Anne acknowledges she had hopes and dreams and that those were being put on hold by the Nazis. Do you notice no matter how bad it got, Anne still tried to make the best of things? In your life, when someone dies or you screw something up, you have to focus on the best of things. You are not in hiding or in a concentration camp. You have opportunities that Anne never did. Focus on the good and never give up hope. For example, what did you learn from your mistakes and how will you make it even better the next time you try? If a family member passed away, close your eyes and remember the good times you shared with that person and how lucky you are to have had that family member in your life for even a moment. Life is too short to focus on losses, mistakes, and the past. Dare to hope, dream, and live ...
ReplyDeleteHi and thanks for visiting my post and next time i will try that thansk for the advice, And i do notice that anne is a very strong person and not many things can set her off the path of where she wants to go.
Deleteyou picked one of the most amazing quotes out of the book. This quote shows that no matter what age you are. you still have to learn to grow up. Anna believes that you can have hopes and dreams. But their are going to have negative people in the way. plus in this article it shows that Anna had it bad. so she showed us no matter how hard stuff gets keep pushing on, this will get matter and to never give up. she also believes that don't focus on your negative stuff in your life. focus on the better and positive things. so that means she is trying to day don't focus to much on your past.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting but yes anne was one of the most strongest teens ive seen yet no matter what was happening she always kept her head up and made the best out of little things.
DeleteI agree completely. But I don't think the war dehumanized them. In fact, if anything the war made them realize their humanity. the fact that such a terrible thing can come from the hatred of one man, contributes to the fact that he was only human. Its said that war is in human nature so the fact that something that terrible happened was inevitable. it happened before and eventually it will happen again. So, The war in fact does not dehumanize, it made us more human than we will ever be.
ReplyDeleteI personally would agree with the author with anne having some ray of hope. I think that Anne being young she really hated to live there in hide out but is the only way of surviving. I also agree with the author about the theme of hope, and that you need hope in those situations. Also you need a lot of courage. I don't think they are being dehumanized by not living a life you wanted to, but i think they are being dehuminzed because they can't keep peace in their heads and have to live in those tight and quite quarters.
